Flyers Trade Deadline
On February 16th, the Philadelphia Flyers acquired defenseman Nick Grossman from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a 2012 2nd Round Pick and a 2013 3rd Round Pick. Grossman is 6' 3", 227 pounds and is 27 years old. Grossman is a defensive defenseman with little offensive upside. He was brought in to bring more size to the defense and to help improve the penalty kill. Two days later, the Flyers acquired Pavel Kubina from the Tampa Bay Lightning. In exchange for him, the Flyers sent the Lightning a conditional 2nd Round pick, a 2013 4th Round pick and forward Jon Kalinski. Kubina is 6' 4", 258 pounds and is 34 years old. Kubina is a two-way defenseman who was brought it to further add size to the defensive corps and to bring in a right handed shot on the power play. Grossman and Kubina have replaced Erik Gustafsson and Marc-Andre Bourdon in the lineup. Both Gustafsson and Bourdon have been reassigned to the Phantoms. Both Grossman and Kubina are unrestricted free agents after the season concludes. The trade deadline is tomorrow (February 27th) at 3:00 PM EST. The Flyers are said to be done making moves unless they feel they have a deal on the table they can not refuse. At this point, the Flyers biggest weakness is their goaltending which has been inconsistent the whole season after signing Ilya Bryzgalov to a 9 year contract worth $51 million. Other than Chris Pronger who is out for the rest of the season and playoffs with post concussion syndrome, the Flyers are healthy and ready to go for the rest of the season. If Bryzgalov can figure it out in net, look for the Flyers to make a strong push for the Stanley Cup.

Career Interest Area
My career interest area is a general manager of a professional baseball team. I've always been most interested in baseball and I have closely followed every aspect of the game since I was young. Every aspect of the game interests me, and being in the position of general manager, I would have the power to run a team to my liking. The position of general manager includes many different tasks, and every single one interests me to no end. That is why my career interest area is the general manager for a professional baseball team.
