Flyers/Penguins Series

The series started a week ago with the Penguins finishing the first period leading the Flyers by a score of 3-0.  By the end of the second period, the Flyers had scored their first goal, a goal by Mr. Playoffs himself, Danny Briere.  During the third period, Briere scored again and then while on the power play shortly after, Braden Schenn netted his first playoff goal in his first playoff game off of a great pass from Scott Hartnell.  The game went into overtime and very quickly the Flyers were able to score and end the game.  Jake Voracek knocked in a loose puck that was failed to be cleared by Kris Letang and Jordan Staal.  In game two, the Pens came out hot again scoring the first two goals of the game.  The Flyers quickly bounced back and scored a short handed goal.  Right before the end of the period, however, the Pens scored again to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.  The second and third periods were strong for the Flyers.  The Flyers ended up taking game two by a score of 8-4 thanks to a hat trick by rookie Sean Coutouier and a hat trick and 6 point effort by Claude Giroux.  Game three was what the series was predicted to be from the start, a blood bath.  The game ended with a combined 153 penalty minutes.  Kris Letang, Kimmo Timonen, Aaron Asham, Derek Englandd, Craig Adams and Zac Rinaldo were all thrown out of the game.  The Penguins played a dirty game and now three of their players are suspended for game 4 including Craig Adams, James Neal and Aaron Asham.  The Flyers won game three by a score of 8-4.  As the last minute counted down during the game, the stadium errupted in a chant of "You can't beat us!" Game 4 in Philadelphia promises to be a good game and look for the Flyers to pull out the brooms and sweep the Pens.
